Insula Yoga is a small, community yoga studio on Whidbey Island in Freeland that houses Maven Alchemy Acupuncture and Better Balance Yoga Therapy.

We open our space to community yoga teachers who wish to independently share their offerings that align with our mission to create community where we feel safe to breathe, restore, and balance our body, mind, and soul.

  • Power Flow Yoga blends strength, balance, and breath through a continuous flow of poses. This energizing class builds stability and flexibility while helping you reconnect to your body and mind. 

    All experience levels are welcome. Variations and modifications are offered so you can move at the pace and intensity that feels right for you.

  • It is so important to practice self-care by being grounded in your body, even as emotions and thoughts rapidly come and go in response to our current challenges. This class may utilize laughter yoga, foam rollers, and many other tools for being resilient and building strength physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Class often ends with a guided meditation and restorative yoga nidra practice for blissful deep relaxation.

  • Often described as “meditation in motion”, Tai Chi Chuan translates as “Supreme Ultimate Martial Art”. This ancient mind-body exercise is safe and effective for all ages and abilities. Emphasis on slow movements linked with intentional breathing can lead to more vigor, greater flexibility, improved balance and mobility, and an overall greater sense of well-being. In fact, Harvard Medical School has dubbed the practice of Tai Chi Chuan as “medication in motion” due to its myriad of health benefits! Sarah’s teacher is Dr. Paul Lam of Sydney, Australia.

  • • Students will learn the theory and safe practice behind building bone density, and aging healthy through participation in various yoga shapes/forms, variations, and sequences. 
    • Alignment, stability, mobility, posture and safety is addressed in every class, and there’s always time for questions and observations in all classes.

  • Leah holds space for you to ground, reset, and reconnect.

    These classes are a little more than a typical yoga class. They weave together: gentle, accessible movement for all levels; breathwork to calm the nervous system; occasional use of therapy balls for release and restoration; time for community sharing and reflection; essential oils and healing salves offered in every savasana.

    It’s a warm, nurturing space with all the supplies of a great studio — the space is a beckoning invitation to slow down, soften your edges, and tend to yourself deeply.

  • 🦋 Find Peace, Calm, and Balance 🌈 with Yoga Nidra.

    Yoga Nidra is a guided meditation done lying down in a supported position that supports deep relaxation and stress relief.

    🌞 "All you have to do is show up, lie down, and let go; Yoga Nidra will do the work." ~ John Vosler (my teacher). ✨

    No experience necessary. If you can lie comfortably on the floor on a yoga mat with a pillow under your knees and covered in a blanket, then you can do Yoga Nidra. We'll begin by breathing together and doing a few Vagus Nerve exercises before getting comfortable for Yogic Sleep. We have lots of props at the studio, but you're welcome to bring your own pillow or blanket to be supremely comfortable.

    ✨ This class is donation based with a suggested donation of $15, but $0 is required to attend. ✨
